SASDA Takes the Lead in Securing Jobs for the Region
A new initiative will start this summer, aimed at improving job prospects in the local area by providing a range of free business support services targeted at small to medium sized companies.
SASDA Limited, the local Development Agency for South Durham and Partners, working with Durham County Council have secured a contract with the Working Neighbourhood Fund, a European source of money which will focus investment on the region’s job market. The work will create new jobs in the local area and secure those jobs which may be in danger of redundancy, by providing a range of business support initiatives.
The offer is aimed at businesses who need a boost. Firms operating across the region who could grow their business and find themselves in a position where they can create new jobs, or at businesses who need specialist support to safeguard existing jobs.
SASDA has recruited four new specialists who will deliver the contract from the SASDA Head Office in Newton Aycliffe. The team have been brought together to cover a range of business support areas including marketing, sales, HR, finance and a whole host of other issues which can contribute to business success.
The help could come at the right time for businesses that are looking to expand, forming a link to free resources that could bring about real growth and take their business to the next level. Alternatively it could be the break an organisation needs when facing the realities of the economic recession. Knowing where to turn when times are hard is key to getting the right support and the Working Neighbourhood Fund contract could be the help businesses need to safeguard their staff and their business.
SASDA also has access to a discretionary fund which can assist organisations with their employment situation, either as encouragement to take the plunge and employ a resident of Sedgefield district or to help them secure the future of existing jobs within the area.
The contract will also provide assistance to those looking for work that need help with interview techniques, CV production and job matching. This free assistance to individuals, combined with the offer of free support to businesses means the contract can make a real positive difference to the local area.
Karl Bone, Chief Executive of SASDA commented: “The project is hugely significant for the future prosperity of the area. The resources we can now offer to those who may be thinking of employing additional staff, or businesses who need support to help consolidate their existing workforce are first class.”
