Greenfield School and Enterprise Agency Engaging with Young Entrepreneurs
Students from Greenfield School for a taste of what it’s like to start your own business when they embarked on the “Make Your Mark Challenge” on Monday. Teams from year nine were set the a brief to create their own enterprise with the brief of “Let local inspiration lead you to a ‘cool’ creation
The students worked throughout the day and presented their ideas, complete with Ideas, Competitor Information and Financial Information, to a ‘Dragons Den’ style panel of judges.
The ideas included brilliant businesses such as tracking devises to help find lost local cats, dogs, teenagers or keys, social networking ideas, safety wear, jewellery and hand held revision tools.
All the ideas drew from local issues and also had sustainable ideas at the core of the business idea and were supported by staff from Greenfield’s enterprise team and SASDA, the enterprise agency for the Sedgefield borough.
The winning idea which will go forward as Greenfield’s entry into the national competition was selected due to its fulfilment of the brief, innovation and quality of the final pitch
The team ‘Greenfield Enterprises’ won the challenge with their idea of creating an online game called ‘Ayc-LIFE’ an innovative idea which incorporated a local social networking with a “SIMSesq’ life game.
The ‘Ayc-LIFE’ entry will now be entered into the national competition, so fingers crossed for the team!
One of the other teams pitch was also so impressive the school has decided to incorporate it into the current school enterprise of t-shirt and merchandise printing. The pitch involved creating a recycled and locally themed charm bracelet which will undoubtedly be the ‘must have’ fashion item of 2010.
All the students worked well throughout the day, under difficult time constraints and all performed well under the “High Pressure Dragons Den” style panel so well done to all involved.
