The Mason Partnership
Guy set up the business The Mason Partnership in late 2007 to provide Home Information Packs (HIPs) and Energy Performance Certificates (EPC’s). Guy is trained as an engineer and felt he was ready for a role change which would enable him to use his analytic skills but also provide him with the challenge of new skills and the motivation and rewards of being self employed.
Despite the current downturn in the housing market which has severely affected the sale of houses and also the demand for HIPs, Guy continues to develop his business and is well placed to expand when the housing market improves.
Self employment is a major change for anyone and Guy sought the assistance of SASDA before he started the business. SASDA were able to source grant funding from Business Link NE and work with Guy to produce a detailed business plan and cashflow forecast and to provide business skills training together with one to one mentoring.
Guy puts his success in the current troubled business climate down to the personal service he provides to his clients and says:
"self employment is a steep learning curve and SASDA helped me gain the skill and confidence to succeed."
