Ann Boyd

Ann is the Sales Specialist for the Working Neighbourhoods Fund project having joined the Team from Newquest, publishers of The Northern Echo, Darlington & Stockton Times, Durham Times and The Advertiser series and associated websites.

Having re-located to the Northeast in 2002,her experience encompasses advertising sales in business to business magazine publishing and newspapers, recruitment consultancy involving the placement of media and marketing personnel, and overall team and project management within publishing generally.

Early on in her career Ann was instrumental in launching the UK’s first magazine for entrepreneurs and smaller businesses,” Business Matters”, and has always retained an interest in helping smaller businesses to grow and manage the process of change management this inevitably brings.

Her own work - based sales training and management development allowed Ann to be accredited with the University Certificate of Advanced Professional Development from Teesside University in 2008, a qualification she has been very proud to receive in recognition of the relevance of work based learning programmes.

As a result , Ann is able to offer telephone sales and presentation skills training to businesses wishing to improve their sales turnover and subsequent profitability, and to offer recruitment selection advice and interview skills training for employers preparing to take on any new staff.

Additionally, personnel who may wish to receive help with cv preparation and job hunting as a result of redundancy can call on her help.

Hobbies and Interests

Ann is a water baby, and much of her free time is spent swimming up and down the pool for fitness and relaxation. Many people have commented she must be training to swim the Channel!

Time spent gardening inevitably leads to spending lots of time with her beloved cat Cleo at her side, which does it’s best to distract from the job in hand, and any relaxation with the paper or a good book ( preferably a period history novel) means that she has to also be involved, leaving paw prints everywhere!

Playing cribbage at the local pub and occasional visits to the theatre with family and friends competes for any extra time left over, but relaxing with a nice glass of fine wine is always a good alternative!
